I was talking to the Dunks of Iron Block today as they came to visit with about a dozen bikes as part of the dealership's 25th anniversary....
It was hot and humid in the late afternoon with a breeze and a sprinkle here and there....
It had been a quiet day at his store and Erik was lamenting the "weather guessers." Those are the media folk who never seem to miss a chance to hyperbolize the forecast and panic the public into staying home.
"They are killing retail," Dunk said of the MSM weathermeisters.
I have noticed it too...the extra spicy forecasts that make watching their weathercasts more essential....There are a lot of storms and calamity predicted that doesn't pan out or just isn't that bad.
I have sat many a winter night when the public was scared away by predictions of storms and blizzards that are just a snowy day in January.
So it was Saturday with the forecasts for rain...Surely, it was raining...somewhere...

Yeah, the weather reporters are to blame for his retail woes.
When people think of that business, the first thing that they remember being promoted there is not his product. He's made sure of that.
No photo of you and a biker chick?
Maybe people have read about him in the papers and that is what is killing his retail business, not the "weather guessers"
This market just needs some better meteorologists, that's all. Like I said before, I'm still available if TV-7 wants to look me up. Today was very warm and raised the potential for a lot of hit-or-miss thunderstorm activity-- "hit-or-miss" being the key factor. Of course, being downwind from Lake Ontario, that helps slow down any development of thunderstorms.
All in all, a meteorologist/weatherperson should be trustworthy, and that will get eyeballs. Hysterics and eye candy don't get viewers. An accurate forecast does-- as long as the guy or gal doesn't make it a total bore to watch.
Erik has a good point. None of the weather forcasters in this area have any idea of what they are doing. I know Channel 7 defended their man DeFranco, telling us he went to school somewhere and took a course. But the verbage always seems the same. Continued use of the words "chances", "scattered", and "intermittent" leaves us changing our plans, most of the time for no reason at all.
Last year we ignored TV7's weather forcast. Took to the River over 40 times. Got wet twice. You just have stop listening.

And 5:02 provides nothing to back anything to back up what he says. Just personal bs.
10:17 Do you ride a motorcycle?
3:37, yes, why do you ask?
