Wow, this is some good intrigue...The possibility the Republicans will part ways with the Conservative Party and field their own independent line on the ballot this fall in hopes of getting the 50,000 votes needed for party status. I would think the Tea Party moniker might work....If fact I would be shocked if local pols like Doheny, Hoffman or Ritchie hadn't already considered getting an extra line with this designation.
For old guard Republicans, the thought of running candidates other than those also on Mike Long's line is out of the question, but there seems to be a growing heresy in the state GOP...I love heresy and it will be interesting to see what happens next....

I don't believe this does anything but ensure continued election of Democrats. But that's what people want. So it's ok. Borrow and spend. But don't gripe about anything.
The GOP is a failed institution in the entire country. We are a people of habit and not want to change habits. To get the Donkeys out of office you have to do things like this...
Like the Donkeys are leading us to the promised land? Trust me, you'll be changing your habits pretty soon if we don't change something. Borrow and spend. Now its a national disease. Look at the Democrat controlled states. Look at the states that are folding. NY, NJ, MI, CA. It's the blue states that are broke. So you want more of this? Free Stuff is great, but it isn't free.
The Republican party won't have a future without shedding the "conservatives" that make their party unattractive to moderates. So, they need to get those "conservatives", who are holding them back, over to the Conservative party, where they belong. One way that they can do that is by doing what Don Coon did and endorsing a former Democrat who leaves a bad taste in the mouths of Republicans who should be members of the Conservative party.
However, because they've wasted years placating the "conservatives" and making them their "base", they're going to experience some rough times while weening themselves off that crazy "conservative" base and, at the same time, trying to convince moderate voters that they are, once again, a reasonable person's party.
Unfortunately, I fear it may be too late. They've been in bed with the contemporary "conservatives" and the T.E.A. Party folks too long for anyone to believe that they are a party of reasonable, moderate representatives. You can dumb down your party only so much before people start to realize that it's a dumb idea to vote Republican.
No offense intended. Just some "straight talk", you betcha. :-)
anon 8:13 the shift has been toward the conservative side of things. Anything but a tax and spend state is what people are looking for.
Conservatives, TEA party, and some of the GOP are standing up to taxing the working class out of existance.
It is time we elected an all new legislature.
Third party? Isn't it a fifteenth party?
Exactly, 9:34pm. The only difference between this fringe party and all the others is that FOX News does their advertising. Otherwise, their "cause" is already represented by the Libertarian and Conservative parties.
In a way, I find it a bit offensive that the T.E.A. Party members dare equate themselves with those legitimate patriots who struggled to win our independence from an actual tyrant. Talk about abusing the memory of our forefathers for political gain.
