That didn't last long....Former Lewis County GOP Chair Patrick Mahar now says he is not running against Ken Blankenbush for the party nomination for Assembly in the 122nd. He cited family issues, but it seems to me those same issues existed a week ago. More likely is what seemed like a good idea a week ago suddenly seems like a waste of time.
Blankenbush has the nomination locked due to a head start and support of what's left of the party machine.
Also the pending candidacy of Lowville native Brian McGrath makes the race far more of a challenge. This was a district long assumed to be a throwaway for Dems, but the Party of Yes apparently has a competant candidate with the cash to compete.
The seat is now held by Diedre Scozzafava, the Republican who watched her party faithful abandon her Congressional run last year.
Don't look for her to give a hoot about helping Blankenbush, and a well marketed McGrath could win.

McGrath needs to exploit the Galloo Island wind deal. That, and a debate or two where he sweeps the floor with Kenny, and he stands a very good chance.
Don Coon, et. al. didn't even invite the woman to the Jefferson County Spring gathering. They did, however, invite her husband, the labor guy they love to hate. Maybe he will ask his wife to go with him.
They should be ashamed...she endorsed a candidate that at least could intelligently address local issues, most importantly Fort Drum. EVERY Person in Jefferson County that CAN NOT SEE that should have their head examined. I assume the committee will support Hoffman this year, as they continue to bash her for not supporting him.
Why would they invite her? She pretty much said she didn't need the repubs when she endorsed the democrat, and now she thinks she should be invited to parties?
I'm getting all teary eyed for her- poor girl!
Ken actually has a great deal of support in the Lewis County and Lowville area. It is going to take a lot more than the 250k and a frown or two from DeDe to scare him out of contention. As far as debates go, you might want to ask Jeff G. about how his last debate with Ken went?
6:36, can u tell me who this great deal of support is? Other than Maple Ridge.
Rick Lucas and Jack Bush. LOL
Yeah Rick, we'll send you a list.
I am waiting..............
