Stick a Fork in Hoffman if the Club Walks

See ya' Doug...that's the message from this missive from Liz' about Matt Doheny meeting with the conservative group responsible for Doug Hoffman's near win on Line D last year.
Mr. Doheny is cultivating an in with the Club for Growth during meetings this week in DC.
Mr. Doheny is the Alex Bay (We say Watertown) businessman who has become the favorite for the GOP nod through his non-stop travel about NY23 and his assiduous cultivating of even the most insignificant of poilitos......
Doheny wisely let the WDT break the story of his DC trip today and then let Liz drop the stink bomb about the Club just in time for the weekend.

Must be his business takes care of itself..

It would be great if Hoffman got out of the way so Doheny didn't have to spend his time fighting his own party and could focus on Owens. Hoffman is probably starting to realize he is outgunned. There is no shame in that, it would be best if he just backed off for the good of the party. This isn't 2009.

It doesn't matter. Owens will far out poll Doheny. Doheny is buying the GOP and They are selling. That's good. The Dems are doing a much better job than the old worn out same old Pol's of the 23rd.

It's great to see such hard work and not just a bunch of commercials. Look forward to Doheny debating Owens. Let's see them in action!

Why are you looking forward to a debate.? Doheny likes debates. He can say what he wants even if he cant deliver anything. What hard work? Going out meeting people. That takes time and money.. Of course the Watertown business man has lots of time and money.. Whos tending the business.. What business? Wall St. has bought and and paid for this guy to protect their interests plain and simple. Wall st is one of the biggest reasons we are in this crisis today.

Kudos to Doheny. Local boy does good.

Heaven forbid someone move away, accomplish something and return home.........THEN have the audacity to want to serve the public.

I'm glad he has a few bucks, he won't NEED the elected job forever to get a pension. Maybe he'll even support congressional term limits.

Can anyone tell me what Dohenys agenda is as far as the four lane highway in the North Country goes? His stance on wind power will be consistant with the rich on the river I assume. His stance on taxes and how we get there is phony and cant be done . I agree with his stance on gays in the military and abortion. Is it really true he is against the federal health care for the poor in this country?

49% of our population supporting the 51% sitting on their asses is one of the biggest reasons we are in this crisis today, 7:32 PM.

At $1 million per lane mile, (2001 estimated costs) who is going to pay for the 700 lane miles between Watertown and Plattsburgh? Here's an idea: let's make it a $1 toll road! That way, the seven cars using it daily will have it paid for 100 million transits! Therefore, no cost to taxpayers!!!!!That's Obama/Pelosi/Owens economics folks!

Great solution 9:12.Let's pave the Seaway, too, and call it the St. Lawrence Scenicway. That will make Save the River happy! Oh wait a minute, they'll complain about the carbon footprint. Oh well, let's just fill it in and call it a veggie garden----free food for the poor! Now, that's real Obama/Pelosi/Owens/Save the River/TI Land Trust economics! (River Rat Ron from the Cape)

I assume Mr. Doheny will "reach out" to Dick Armey, half-term Gov. Sarah Palin, fired Speaker Newt Gingrich, most of FOX, Beck and a few others along the route, too?

He like them will do, say, pay, try, lie, or imply anything to win ... folks: That's the basic problem.

Why not?I suppose your to good for fame and fortune Danny.Would you turn down the oppurtunity to go on the main stage I realy dont think so.

Juston: Like I said "follow the money." I would not - but hey, you have to start trusting someone sometime, Juston.

Would reaching out to the aforementioned Palin, Beck, Armey crowd be a good idea? Are they the future of the Republican party or a divisive sideshow that Doheny needs to steer clear from?

Being that Doheny still has time to distance or draw closer to those types, I'm genuinely curious how Republicans feel about that. The answer speaks a lot about the direction of the party.

In other words Doheny and his staff are against the four lane highway. If he wins in other words the north country will eventually dry up. What other hope do we have? Prisons

Doheny was in contact with the Club for Growth last year too. Draw your own conclusion what he was calculating. He cares about one thing...his own ambition and he will buy his way there. The problem is not his financial success, the problem is he uses any means to get to the end and the end is all about him. It is NOT about Fort Drum or the farmer or the single mother...this is ALL about Doheny

Doheny will support anything Palin does and says as long as the movement is strong. He too feels that the GOP is run by the people of the past and his ambition is to win and help gain control of the party for his own ambitions. Move aside GOP and make room for the future of your dream. Tea Party rocks.

Doheny doesn't have a chance in hell getting the Club support. You don't get all that support one year and then drop the next. Club will help out Doug when the time comes.

The Club supported Hoffman because there was no logical alternative for them and it was a great opportunity for them ti flex their muscles. Despite their impressive financial support of Hoffman last year, he still couldn't get the job done. There is no way they would throw good money after bad and put another million into the same race between the same candidates a year later (especially when the spotlight is off the 23rd as there are many other elections they can focus on this time). There is no way Hoffman will get the same kind of support from the club this year that he did last year and I would not be at all surprised if the club backs doheny. Different year, Different candidates. Different story.

This from the "Club for Growth:"

Club for Growth Prez Chris Chocola said this in a statement re: Bennett losing in UTAH:

"Utah Republicans made the right decision today for their state, and sent a clear message that change is finally coming to Washington. The media may report this as Bob Bennett’s loss, but we see it as a victory for Utah, for the United States Senate, and for the cause of economic freedom."

I note: Economic freedom - like other freedoms, right? It can't be taken away or lost right, Mr. Wall Street CEO Collection of Corrupt Crooks?

I see, I see.

Doheny dosnt need any support other than his money. He feels north country people are feeble of mind and I guess we will see this year at the polls.. He supports prison closing but dosnt have to state either way as he is not pressed to. Doheny is against social welfare even when there are people out here starving and homeless. He wants to take substaries away from retired people and older people what is he for anyway except the rich and famous.
