Lewis GOP Meets

Lewis County Republicans gathered Thursday evening to hear from candidates, most notably the Congressional hopefuls and the apparent Assembly rivals.
In the big race, no endorsement vote was taken but It's expected Matt Doheny will continue in his string of backings by local party organizations.....Rival Doug Hoffman did get a symbolic win when the committee from the Oswego County Town of Granby backed him. Still trying to find that one on the map ? So am I.
The Assembly competition now places ex Lewis County GOP Chair Pat Mahar against the man often pictured on rhis blog standing next to Big Bird.
Think about this run for Congress....the prize is significant, but at some point the endless meetings and dinners in eleven counties has got to get to you.

That BigBird picture will definitely come back to haunt the BlankenBird

I think what is more likely to hurt Blankenbush is that he claims to be running as a fiscal conservative at the same time that he just supported tax breaks for billionaire developers at a time when the state is broke, for a project that is not needed and will have drastic negative long-term impacts. Blankenbush would just be more of the same in Albany - a backroom deal maker that does damage to his supposed constituents as well as the state at large.

Doheny is the Man for the Job in the 23rd. He is the most inteligent candidate by far, a self made man of the people and a solid conservative without being an impractical ideologue. Not part of the old and tired, old school, backward, backroom north country GOP. (like Blankenbush)

Doheny is the best hope for the north country. He repreents the traditional, mainstream views of moderate Republicans AND Democrats. He's a new, fresh face. he's youbng. He's approaching public service for the right reasons (too many of the old guard are looking for retirement $ and insurance. Gof help us from the oldstyle politics UGH!)He's a workhorse. OMG. A new face. Must scare the pants off the business-as-usual crowd.

Doheny is a wannabe with money that can buy votes and surround himself with people from the old guard for advise.. He is an exact image of Mark Cuban of the NBA. He wants to be on top so buy everything in sight. Luckily we have a solid man in Washington now so neighter Hoffman or Doheny will be a factor in the election.

Ya know, guys. This Blankenbird, dog, fish, whatever you are calling him today is going to cause a few of us to start considering supporting him. I don't know the guy. But if his opposition is this stupid, maybe he deserves an honest look. And I don't have problem with wind, as long as they build it in Wiley's back yard.

The only people that don't have a problem with wind are the unethical people getting the subsidies and those that have not studied the issue. Wind power actually increases reliance on fossil fuels because of its intermittency and how it integrates with the grid. Wind power increases power prices. Wind projects decrease land values and tax base. Wind turbines are made in china. Wind development is being forced into poor rural areas where new power projects are not needed so that developers can reap massive subsidies from already broke federal, state and local govts. Project owners withhold payments from land owners and taxing jurisdictions. The studies are there.read past the developer and lobbyist propoganda and you will learn the wind power is a scam..... supported by politicians that either have not read the data or on the take. Either way makes Blankenbush not smart or a bad guy for cramming it through against the will of 75% of the county.

I don't care about wind power - of course it is a scam. What big economic development projects aren't scams these days. I think blankenbush is no good as a candidate because he cant communicate (have you heard him speak) and for how he handled the issue. He did not make the IDA do what they were supposed to do - create a uniform PILOT to address tax breaks and contentious development issues and he passed it through the legislature like Obama passed healthcare. Blankenbush is a bad actor.

A vote for blankenbush is a wasted vote - either because he won't win or worse - he will be a waste of tax payer money in Albany.

The people who have no problem with wind are The Great One's biggest supporters. Nationally, you love wind. Locally, you hate it. Makes you look real stupid. Its always a good idea, somewhere else.. Yeah right.

Blankenbush acts like he is the Great One of Jefferson County.

Mr. Blankenbush is going to be in for a race with a very formidable opponent. There are many of us looking for an alternative to the Jefferson County Legislature Chairman . We will have a successful, articulate, intelligent candidate that will be announcing very soon. As much as he spins his candidacy as a Hoffman tea party apostle, he can not run from his legislative record.

Hoffman is a winner. Don't be wrong again. Get behind him and win the congressional seat back for the Republicans. A win for Lewis County and the USA.
