Franklin County Legislator Paul Maroun tells the WDT he is not a candidate for Congress in NY23....There was no real reason to believe he was...There was no campaign apparatus and everyone knew he was recovering from surgery anyway....But he got a few mentions in the MSM about running and got to debate the two contenders for the GOP nod...Nothing wrong with a little fun, and we all wish Mr. Maroun a speedy recovery.
I am wondering how early I should arrive for the Doheny launch in the AM in order to get a good seat....I ask a couple Indy friends to stop by to dillute the GOP gene pool in the room. I am hoping for lots of red meat....Maybe a new incarnation of Huey Long or William Jennings Bryan.......Just tell us you won't let us be crucified on a cross of gold....Do it loud and with a crazy glint in the eye and like lemmings we will follow.
Don't forget to tell us how you long for the era of Ronald Reagan, even though you were too young to drive when he left office....And definately don't forget to call your opponent a socialist....That always goes over.

Anyway, I'm wondering why Jefferson Co Republican establishment is so allegedly strong behind this guy? Hoffman is going to be the candidate. No one outside of the GOP establishment knows who the heck Doheny is and frankly I don't even think they know who he truly is.
This announcement is pointless to me...
In my opinion, Owens wins in a three-way race where moderate Republicans vote for Doheny and the far right votes for Hoffman.
I also believe that Owens wins in a two-way race where Hoffman, once again, turns moderate Republicans towards Owens because of his rabid conservatism and Tea Party allegiances.
I'd like to see the latter and would love if Scozzafava campaigned with Owens against Hoffman. That would be a beautiful thing.

The only reason Doheny gets attacked so much is because he is the most viable candidate. People that have met him know he is the real deal.

When he announces will he tell us who he is, where does he presently work and work for. Will he tell us his principals. Whats his position on gun lobby, abortion, gays, taxes and how to relieve them healthcare why hes against it. Who in NYC and wall st pull his strings. Common I dont know either Hoffman or Doheny personally but when you hear Hoffman on tv he sounds like a stuttering bumbling moron.
To all of those people who say they don't know who Doheny is...isn't that what a campaign is for??? The primary is NEXT FALL!!! We have 6 months to get to know him. No one knew who Hoffman was when he first started campaigning last summer and in just two short months people were able to get comfortable with him. Stop complaining already and let the campaign begin. Jeepers Creepers.
