DEC ruling is a big fracking deal

From the sounds of this, New York's hydrofracking industry may be in for some slowing down as the DEC imposes regulations designed to protect water supplies for all those downstaters....There has been a lot of pushing in Albany to halt the process for recovering natural gas by pumping chemically treated water into shale formations.
This may mean our City Council decision to continue to accept the by products of this process at the sewage treatment plant may wither as well. Council recently voted three to two to continue treating the water from the state's Southern Tier.
By making the testing of wells so expensive, the process may cease to be profitable.

Oh no!

Will the City have to increase its tax rate because it lost 3 1/2 cents per gallon Revenue?

If the DEC is concerned about contaminating watersheds, downstate;what does that say about water supplies here in upstate ? Sometimes, the reason down-staters crap on us,is because we let them. Watertown, I hope that some of the city council and sewage dept.,are not doing the same ,as some at the SEC. Do not treat anymore contaminated water, here. To the DEC, just out-law the practice, period. Why regulate so much,to stop something. Hell, the DEC should've regulated the black bear,in Lowville, instead of shooting him out of a tree.

I am still working very hard on this, just becouse you have not heard me mention it in a while does not mean that I dont have something up my sleave. There is two bills before the assembly to shut this down for adleast two years and Patterson is for the bills. I have written letters, have drafted a petiton to stop this from coming near us. I also believe that the local law makers who are in favor of this should be held responsible if something bad should happen between now and then. The public has been mis informed by there leaders by the city manager.Esp when she okd this with out the knowledge of the council and the people..This is not safe and should not be talked about lightly as it has been by the council and Mr. Sligar. I commend you and Mrs.Burns on your stance.Lets see if Mr.Smith can still justify this as being someth he is doing for the state and his reason being for the tanker program wich ,I have looked into the agreement it doesnt say that you have to deal with these toxins or radio active material to keep your end of the bargain Esp when the State of New York has no clue about this nor the D.E.C they dont have a handle on it so he is making no sense.....

What the frack is going on here?

A very complex problem with unknown health issues at stake. So, bring on the tax breaks, promise of more jobs, good profits (for someone) and besides, since we now have health care for all, maybe it will cover the unexpected (future) costs when all hell breaks loose over fracking-related illnesses down the road?
