Hey Senator Libous....Cool It with the Makeover on the Girl Next Door

I think this Times scribe raises a good point about the widely anticipated Senate run by America's Favorite County Clerk, Patty Ritchie. Will this genuinely nice and competent person find happiness in the sphere that houses the Eric Massa's and Hiram Montserrate's of the world ?
Ms. Ritchie has been doing the obligatory publicity stunts and press releases in a probable effort to launch a campaign against Senator Darrel Aubertine....For the record, Mr. Aubertine is a nice person too.
Press releases and grandstanding on issues in the news don't work with me....I look at the prison and say, 'Hey, you gotta start cutting somewhere....' although I realize the role of the local pols is to feign outrage as long as possible.
I would suggest if she is running, she run based not on press releases from Senator Libous' office...but just talk about herself.
She has a really good record that has led to all that adulation she gets just walking into the P&C (soon a Price Chopper) on a Saturday morning. Talk about Patty and lay off the press releases and stunts. If simple souls like Mr. Savitskie and I can see through them, so will lots of other people.
Let Patty be Patty and keep the Libous operatives in Albany where they feel more at home.

I agree one hundred percent.. Patti needs to be herself. Honest, friendly and sincere. Very outstanding official of County Government. She could be the same for State Government. I feel she probably would be more suited for a run at the 118th as we are yet to have any real canidates announce and I believe she could beat Russell.. To simply run on someones discontent will not cut it at election time. People have a way of figuring things out and in many cases say Oh what the hell things arent that bad and just vote the incumbant back into office. Whatever you do be yourself and dont stoop to stealing and copying letters and ideas from other canidates as Vaugh in Ogd. was recently caught doing. I dont know about the Senate but I really want you for the 118th

Maybe we should flip Ritchie & Vaugh. Vaugh for senate and Ritchie for assembly?

How does the board vote yes on a project just a month or two ago and then voto no on this project?

This race, if it becomes a race will underscore (again) that gimmicks work sometimes to get on the ballot.

Hey, we’re a "mavericky," and "gimmickry" sort of people...

Patti must stay Patti and no one else. Thats what got here elected in St. Law Co.. Thats what could get her elected to the Senate or Assembly whichever she runs for. .

That’s the problem, all the cutting is Northern New York. Ogdensburg Correctional Facility is on the chopping block this year, Watertown next? Senator Aubertine is a nice guy and he has voted appropriately with his fellow Democrats to release more inmates and now violent felons. Darrel said he is working with the upstate Senators to stop the closing, they are all Republicans.

We know that if anyone runs against Darrel and things look bad the Democratic Senate may buy back Ogdensburg Correctional Facility for at least a year. It is too bad Senator Aubertine has to associate with the corruption in Albany. They eat their young and may not help their fellow democrat.

I agree Patty needs to stand on her own and commit to this Senate race if that is her intentions. Jockeying at this point is only hurting her.

She needs to stand up and decide. Ive noticed many people want her to run for 118th because of lack of a competant opponet for Russell. The GoP must have other people in mind for the 118th.. Vaugh who announced for the 118th is a councilman,in Ogdensburg one of three that voted the other night not to give money to promote the four lane hwy which is vital for this area..I think he and Nelson and Powers should be examined by someone. Spend money to dig up and replace and perfectly good road in the burg then vote against promoting economic developement in their city.. Heh...

Dear 1048,
First of all the City Council in Ogdensburg supported a resolution for the roof top highway in mid 2009.
The marketing campaign introduced by the self appointed administrator Jason Clark of the North Country Corridor Group lacked a great deal of Information. He introduced a marketing budget to the city council that consisted of t-shirts, lapel-pins, signs, ballons, membership mailings and radio and web designs.

This group is targeting struggling municipalities, my concern, where are the counties in this. St. Lawrence County legislature has not appropriated anything, Why? Where is Lewis, Jefferson, Franklin, Essex and Clinton Counties. You would think they would go after legislative bodies that might have a little more to offer than a broke city.
I asked Jason Clark about these concerns and he felt that Ogdensburg should be the community to take the lead... REALLY, What about Massena I asked, after all you are the Economic Developer for the town and village of Massena? I don't honestly recall his winded reply that amounted to nothing.

There is no question that a highway would help our area and I commended Mr. Clark for taking the lead on this, but until I see he has support form all the Counties affected and a committee is formed of county legislators, and or businesses would i support this. I do not want to lose the opportunity of a highway due to lack of communication with all the affected. We have to have one team pushing a campaign collectively, to work with our Federal Govt and state leaders to make it a reality..

Schumer and Gillibrand should be our Marketing firm. I have a problem with spending taxpayers dollars to a group that in my opinion has not done their due diligence.

Oh the street in the greenbelt is grant specific, all in accordance with a plan the previous city council implemented.
Heh, if you want a copy of the resolution contact me @ mpow121@msn.com I would be happy to send it to you.

Why would someone support giving money that is illegal? Why would someone pay money so that our elected officials keep their campaign promises?
