Filmmakers offer an inside look at NYC's 'rubber rooms' - NYPOST.com

I am always fascinated by stories about the so called "rubber rooms" in which NYC teachers up on personnel charges go to every day and sit for seven hours at full pay....Some have been going for up to 12 years. These are teachers alleged to be incompetant..guilty of sexual abuse...or done something that leads the district to try and fire them.
I don't know where the "rubber rooms" in NNY are....but I assume there must be teachers who get in trouble.

Talk about an area that needs some reform.

Lets start getting some interest. Will be a tough road but teachers need to be put in reality. What other job is 180 days a year great salary and can afford dues to a union that controls Albany.Everyone else in America is contributing to their health insurance.. We need to lobby hard over the enxt two to three years and put politicans in office that hear us.

All I have to say about this is Duncan, the man is being very agressive right now on fixing this along with putting Richard Ianuzzi the Zar of the teachers Union in his place, alot of schools across the country are getting pressure from the feds and being targeted for closer becouse of there old ways of,we need Aid but our kids are failing horibly.Watched a program last night on CNN with a Harlem shool official who had some realy good Ideas on how to deal with these teachers. There days are numberd all the good teachers should be kept out of this...

No 9:12, nothing will come of this. Some have been warning of the imbalance for years. No one has listened. Now you have so many employed by school districts it would be hard to crack. Even that START BS worked in their favor. That program allowed spending to continue. Now that its gone, the out of control spending is in place and their is nothing you'r going to do about it. MSM is completely in their pocket. Channel 7 does the obligatory sky is falling stories about programs being cut. They are quietly restored time and time again. They rarely cover that part of the pablum. Its a cycle and its a machine, and you've let it go on too long. Its for the children.
