Doheny Hits the Trail

Matt Doheny is starting to be seen more and more as he attempts to win the GOP nod for Congress in NY 23. An appearance in Canton is being touted even by Twitter. So far Doheny has been on the down low talking to party poobahs in an effort to short circuit Doug Hoffman's second attempt at the race.
Doheny is a Jefferson County businessman raised in Alex Bay. He did not attend prep school, or so he is fond of reminding this humble blogger !

I disagree.

He's a fresh face without ties and obligations to the wingnuts. Sure hope the Repubs have learned from the deDe-Hoffman disaster----if not, then they'll reelect the Plattsburgh Pelosian.

he's an independent---and that's what we need in Congress. What we don't need is another partisan panderer........."Plattsburgh pelosian"---that's so true!

While I think most of us agree that we don't need another "Plattsburgh Pelosian" but I think Doheny would have a real hard time beating Owens. He doesn't have the panache that a politician needs to win this district. Even if Conservatives got behind him, which they probably won't with Hoffman still interested, he won't get the Independents. The unions and non-affliated voters know nothing of Doheny and Wall Street doesn't play up here with them.

Graham can beat the drum all he wants for his hometown boy, but I forsee tough sledding ahead.

Hoffman must drop out, NOW

Come election time every one always seems to be bitch’n about not having a clear choice…claiming that one candidate is the same as the other…then along comes clear choice in the form of three clearly different candidates and the cry goes out for one to drop out. Hard to please some folks!

Doheny is very impressive with his knowledge of the district and mastery of the big issues. The people that don't want him to succeed are those that want the status quo.

957 and 1015 sound alot like the guy who wants to be his page in Washington.. I dont think you fit the bill age wise NV

Apparently, he's not held captive by special interests. Wow! That's refreshing. Let's see----he's not a career pol, he's not in anyone's pocket, he's not afraid of hard work and he's a listener. He may be just the guy to bring some common sense to the scene. I'll look for a Discerning Dems for Doheny sign up sheet. Charlie from St, Lawr. Co.

Discerning Dems for Doheny! I like that. I'm a proud dem---have been for my whole life --- but pelosi scares me. We just can't afford that kind of agenda anymore. Look at Albany. Look at our unemployment. Look at businesses closing up, even right here in Bill Owens backyard. One of his own companies Pfizer just announced another huge layoff. He's nowhere to be found. Nice man but we can't afford him. Sorry neighbor Bill.

This is 5:11 again. You're getting a following here in Bill's neighborhood.

Doheny and Barclay have agreed to accept the GOP nominee and not "spoil" a victory for the people by running on a right wing reactionary ( Downstate Boss Mike Long) line-----has Hoffman agreed yet? Or is he wedded to the idea of being a spoiler and causing a second fluke victory for the Pelosian from Plattsburgh.
