Congressman Blames Constituent Anger on Palin

It appears Rep. Weiner is a weiner.....He's whining, along with the bobbing heads at MSNBC, that because Sarah Palin says she is "targeting" certain lawmakers for defeat...He and the victimhood of liberalism say any use of firearms terminology is hateful and threatening.
Rep. Weiner best not go to a Giant game...where sometimes Eli throws a "bomb" from the "shotgun" formation.
Listen up...there is always a need for decorum, but most of this hysteria about threats over healthcare legislation is more about politics and fundraising than it is anything else.
As for pranks with white powder...clearly juvenile, stupid and lots more , but not the fault of Ms. Palin..

How can you possibly know that these threats are hollow?

Blames goes everywhere but the people who are creating it. Vote them out!

I think the mailing of white powder to a United States government building is a lot more than just a stupid or juvenile "prank". To me, it equates to holding hostages within our Capitol building with an empty gun.

It's a terrorist act and, when white powder was mailed to government officials after 9/11, it was deemed as such. Whatever happened to "never forget"?

Those who mailed this artificial anthrax are terrorists who intended to disrupt our government and strike fear into Americans. We're told by most on the right that, for the sake of national security, we need to be detaining and investigating potential terrorists by using profiling. So, let's use profiling to detain or investigate people who have the same fringe allegiances or match the description of whomever is responsible for this mailing.

And I read that Palin will assist McCain in his next campaign--more laughs for the party of Yes!!!

I hear Doheny is anti gun anti hunting. Rumor of course so I would like him to clarify his position before to much time passes

Political leaders have a responsibility to their followers and to all citizens not to use language that would incite or encourage people to resort to violence or otherwise break the law when expressing their political views. Of course, as Sarah Palin is not much of a political leader, can we expect her to bear any responsibility for her incitant language?

Even a Mayor is always on duty and representing the office.....

it's kind of remarkable that someone with that attitude would actually write

i agree that it's not the fault of palin (though her rhetoric isn't doing anything to help), but as for the rest of it, no it's actually about bricks through office windows, severed gas lines, smashed doors, faxes with images of nooses, and as anon 10:12 noted, something that's a lot more than a juvenile prank. are you also this dismissive of death threats? is this how you like to represent your city? what's wrong with you?

Come on Doheney loves to duck hunt and obviously with guns. Stop spreading lies. What's your name Jim Cummings

"Sarah Palin says she is "targeting" certain lawmakers for defeat" Right. go to her FaceBook page and see the actual gun sight targets on the faces of those members of Congress and see how funny or hysterical you think it would be if that were your face! The Party of NO has incided riots among the crazies of the world and we are all going to pay the price. The Republican leaders, and followers like Hoffman and Doheny don't have the b***s to stand up and decry this violence. Family values my a**. Hypocrites all of them. The GOP is done.

"Pranks with white powder" and you have the unmitigated gall to call it "juvenile?"

How very rightwing of you. "Decorum," try using that term when you want to decorate your house or bar, not in the political anger we see today that is getting out of hand.

Your football analogy is correct, but the context is wrong.

Football analogies and this anger about health care are not the same...

And, really you have to stop protecting and falling all over yourself about Palin -- she's married and a whackjob at that, although on that last point you might make a good couple.

This is totally wrong about her:

She tweeted her followers, saying: “Commonsense Conservatives & lovers of America: Don't Retreat, Instead - RELOAD!”

She used her Face Book site to target 20 House Democrats who voted yes on health care. There was a map with gun sights on the districts.

She may believe she's engaging with metaphors like you tried, but Mr. Graham, there are many angry people out there who have twisted minds who might think that her Metaphors are an invitation for someone else to act differently.

I'd love to sign this with my real name, but I'll use Anonymous today to save what little face I have left.

I hope you are right and these threats are juvenile, but consider the consequences if you are not right.

You libs can't take the heat. Books and movies on killing Bush are OK ya think. How about the death threats made to the Rep and Dem Congresswomen who voted for the bill? How about your loving ACORN standing outside of AIG homes making death threats? And oh by the way all of Obama's current cronies who bombed America in the 60's? Get off your high horse. The Mayor is right on with this one.

Is there any political party or movement out there, without sin? With all the mud, blood, and threats being thrown around out there, is this the same America, that we used to have so much trust in, besides god, to lead us in this world of ours. It seems that trust is totally lacking in todays society,;everyone is out to get everyone. I mean, here we are trying to display to the world, how great our form of government is,yet we can't seem to convince ourselves, how great it really is.I'm not saying that everything or everyone ,are totally screwed-up,but until we have people leading us without selfishness,hatred,bigotry,etc.., we will continue to snowball into chaos.

5:01...you are the only one making it a partisan argument. Everyone else is simply arguing against all threatening actions. I do not condemn anyone making threats against public officials whether democrat or republican.

Mayor, you are way off base. Words have meanings and Palin's words have helped create a bad atmosphere.

Anonymous said...

"Words have meanings and Palin's words have helped create a bad atmosphere.

In her defense, she might not know that words have meanings. Though, you're right and ignorance is no excuse.

Cue the "you're scared of Sarah Palin and that's why you make jokes about her" commenter. :-)

Its so gay to criticize Palin in this way....Dems have their heads up their butts

Libs and Government Lovers are frantic to change the subject from last week's health care disaster. So we have this carefully orchestrated BS campaign attempting to smear everyone who is pissed at them. No one condones illegal behaviour, but this is being blown out of proportion. Owens tried the same lies on a local level. Haven't heard much since he barfed up his threat claims.

As far as Palin is concerned, give me a break. Here we go again. Oh my God, she's targeting people for defeat. Anybody who gets offended by that needs counseling. I'm sure its covered under the free stuff healthcare program. I'm also confident your stupidity was pre-existing, so be cautious when filling out the forms. Noone really knows how that program will work in real life.

I seem to remember a certain mayor aghast that the town's mennorah had been destroyed. He whined and was out for blood. He even wrote for several days about it in his blog. He was justly outraged. It is a shame to see him tacitly condone the same type of actions (juvenile pranks!!) the teabagging knuckledraggers are doing just because the birthers and the fair Sarah have pooh-poohed it. I guess it just matters whose ox is being gored.

hermit thrush said...

pretty good rant, anon 9:03! i just want to say that i don't know any democrats/progressives/liberals who want to change the subject from health care. i for one sure don't! obviously there are things that could be better about the bill, but i still think it counts as big victory for democrats. there's nothing that could be better for democrats' electoral prospects than to have republicans run on repeal of the bill this year, and to nominate palin for president in 2012.

hermit thrush said...

anon 9:39 is right on. the mayor was absolutely right to decry the recent desecration of the city's menorah. why the different standard now?

this seems to illustrate the general principle that when it comes to local issues, the mayor's approach is fairly reliably one of nuance, pragmatism, and empathy. but on national issues it's all ideology and tribal identification. it's like things outside the city's borders are just too abstract.

Kemit is right back to where he was last year. No comment at all about calling Pres Bush a war criminal and a murderer, eh Klinet? You don't talk much about that stupidity anymore. Well at least you have the courage to respond to me again. I guess your wife gave you permission.

Its ok little guy. We're here for you whenever you want defend yourself. And two posts right in a row. That's right up there with Wiley thinkin'.

hermit thrush said...

yeah you see it's funny i always tell you that i'd happily respond to you if you could just pay me the basic decency of referring to me by my name (herm, ht -- that'd all be fine), and look what's happened -- no stupid names in your comment, and i responded to it! voila! i have to confess i didn't even know it was you, though looking back all the talk of barf and government lovers and stupidity (i know, the irony!) should have tipped me off. those are your calling cards.

Anonymous said...

You guys crack me up!!!

Anonymous said...

Khermant, what can I say, I'm a gradiate of a government school, spelling is not my bag. And it doesn't make any difference, you always respond to me, no matter how I address you.

You're a real Car 54 you are. I give you 300 hints, and you finally put 2 and 2 together. Kermit, pieces of information are called clues.

Now how bout it. What does ya think about calling Prez Bush a murderer and a war criminal. Was that part of the civil discussion you now advocate, or are you a lying sack of sh#t who has double standards of honesty?

Are ya tipped off yet? Ask your wife if you can respond.

Anonymous said...

Guess she told him to mop something, as he didn't have a response anyway.

Why Palin is a whackjob?

Palin Over the Edge??

I can't wait to hear Graham's support of this wild-ass statement...

Is this a MSM story? Do I believe it? I'm sure you do, 4:01.

Watch it, she may target you.
Leave the lights on.

Same thing over and over again. Mention Palin and the haters and fear mongers and Dannie types and MD23eezes go crazy with nervyness. This is no exception. Now this thread has 30+ responses and it has nothing to do with Palin at all, just the mention of her name in connection with a nervous little baiter from NYC.
