219-212

The House of Representitives, by a vote of 219-212 with 34 Democrats voting no, has passed the Senate Health Bill.
Supporters say the measure when signed by the President will extend health insurance to 32 million Americans, and reign in the insurance industry.
Opponents say it will bankrupt America.
NNY Congressman Bill Owens was among those supporting the measure.

Forget all that what can you do for your country stuff. From now on it is clear. Lie, misreprsent, change your story, bribe. promise anyting to anyone, and get what you can get for you and yours. The rules have completely changed. It used to be we had a group of people who lived this way. Now, if you don't, you are a complete fool. Get whatever you can for yourself any way possible. Its the new way.

Congrats to Pelosi and the Great One, and our newest sleazeball, Bill Owens. We won't forget.

In several hours, America will wake up and go on with its daily business like tonights events never happened.

In several years, America will wake up and realize that while it went on with its daily events those charged to protect America's security from enemies both foreign and domestic passed legislation forever transforming the nation from a freedom loving society to one that lends its freedom to government.

In several decades, America will wake up and realize that the previous generation so coruptly bankrupted the current generation that it can no longer sustain the kind of freedoms that those that came before abused.

Elections have consequences folks and we just witnessed how dire every election truly is. You can no longer just vote for the lesser of two evils, you must demand certain principals.

This bill is an attempt by House and Senate Democrats to keep their electorate eternally dependent on their elected officials from cradle to grave.

Is there any way to get out from under the bloated corpse of government now?

I predict that everyone who voted "No" will try their best to spin the successess of the program once it kicks in to prop up their image to gain reelection votes - based on what I'm not sure, but making lemonade from sour lemons does come to mind.

Dan,

That's a bold and frankly, preposterous prediction.

You honestly think the Republicans that campaigned and voted against the bloated corpse of government interfering with every area of our personal lives will turn around and tell their district tea parties, "hey, great news! I got you health care and it works!"

The free market is the only way to drive down the real cost of health care. Government health care only hides the costs because the government never needs to turn a profit.

Long live the king! He just relegated Boner and the Party of No to some quaint regional sect known mostly in Appalachia.

We can celebrate at a great victory for the American people. Health care reform is badly needed in this country. For too long it has been too expensive and has not covered all people. This legislation starts this country on a path that will give all U.S. citizens access to affordable health care.

why don't you naysayers who don't already work at a hospital volunteer at one? That would help with your attitudes...........

Heh. It's amazing how a reduction in the deficit (per the CBO) will "bankrupt" the country. Must be Conservative math.

Your Humble Correspondent said...

Anon 9:32,

It's either Conservative Math, *or* maybe Conservatives are the only ones who have read the book "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie."

The CBO estimate of "deficit reduction" was wholly contingent on no additional appropriation from Congress to run the program.

So the Conservatives are "ass"uming there will be additional appropriations that will "bankrupt" the country?

"The sky is falling!" LOL

Anon 9:51,

The sky's not falling - our government's credit rating is. Hawaii had a univesal health care system only for children. It was canceled after 7 months because of budget creep.
According to Physicians for a National Health Program, the Health Care Reform program Massachusetts enacted "has been more expensive than expected, costing $1.1 billion in fiscal 2008 and $1.3 billion in fiscal 2009. In the face of a state budget crisis in fall 2008, Gov. Deval Patrick announced that he will keep the reform afloat by draining money from safety-net providers such as public hospitals and community clinics."

Brilliant idea. Draining clinics and hospitals of cash helps reform health care how?

Point in fact: every government program - from law enforcement, the military, all the way down to mail service - costs more than they say it does.

This is a program we cannot afford.

Is the sky falling? Absolutely not. Yet. But, we could be in serious trouble. Not that you'll think so.

But then again, nobody ever thought the government would ever have to bail out AIG, Lehman Bros., GM, Chrysler, etc., etc., etc.

Please anonymous, try to keep it civilized.

Your Humble Correspondent. Thanks.

I don't believe MD23s or Dannie types are interested in facts. Their brains seem pretty much controlled by party line thoughts and hormones.

Both get their stuff from governement. No thinking necessary.

Redouble your efforts to get everything you possibly can from your government. Refuse all overtime. Pay all government bills as late as possible. Become a thorn in their side. Its the only fun you're gonna have from now on.

But continue to vote Donkey.

Joke all you want, but my grandparents were killed by a death panel today and I'm writing this from an internment camp.

Sincerely,
Glenn Beck & Sarah Palin
Conservative Political Action Committee and TEA Party spokespersons.

P.S. Take us seriously. We're not overly dramatic idiots, really. :-)

That's all you have left, isn't it 8:23? Stupidity. Facts have become inconvenient to your argument.

I do hope you are a government employee, a teacher, or a bum. All other Americans are in big trouble.

10:39, it was a joke about how the stupidity that has been espoused by people like Beck and Palin (i.e. death panels and socialist nightmare scenarios) is the opposite of fact. Facts have never been convenient to their argument, have they? Surely, you can't be offended by my mocking of those two clowns. :-)

Funny stuff. Now how 'bout the argument of how are we going to pay for all this crap? Millions have been added to the Medicaid eligibility rolls. And its all free. In fact, according to The Great One it is going to save us money. OK. You think Palin and Beck are nuts. I nominate your nutcase from Chicago for the grand title.
