Its the same all over....this wind PILOT story is about Herkimer County where after five years no one knows the details of the a soon-to-be-voted on tax break for a company that doesn't publicly speak, but only talks to the press through a spokesman using e-mails.
Some quick money in tight times for the County and the promise of jobs. There doesn't seem to be organized resistance so the county Leg in this remote area will approve it. How can you object to what you know nothing about ?

The facts are in and the story is the same there and here. All Blankenbush and Ormsby will accomplish with Galloo Island is to enrich a wealthy developer, export hundreds of jobs to China (where the turbines are manufactured), require the local utility to build uneccessary infrastructure (raising all of our electricty rates), open the flood gates for NYPA to put turbines in the water, destroy the waterfront landscape, destroy a sensative Great Lakes ecosystem, lower property values, saddle Jefferson County with a huge decommissioning bill after Federal wind power subsidies evaporate (5 years) and raise taxes for all of us. Nice work boys. Hopefully Herkimer is not as dumb as Jefferson County.
Why did people in Jefferson County, Henderson especially, wait so long to speak up? The plans and info were public knowledge for literally a year or more? Herkimer County I suppose is similar in democraphics.... Recent revelations in Henderson that information has apparently been in the town clerks office, and been hidden leads us to wonder what else has been going on there. Guess we will never know. The state comptroller did find quite alot it appears but the foxes will be the ones to guard the henhouse it appears as regards responding to the audit. keep those tax bills paid folks !
If all plans and info were public for more than a year, then who is the windmill developer? Why did the IDA Chair and another member vote against it at the final approval. Makes you wonder what was known and who new it.
The Galloo Island Project has been in the works since mid-late 2008. Don't know why no one caught on to it. Those who did make some comments and inquiries were routinely brushed off.
