Hoffman needs to back down. He proved in the last election that he can't beat Owens. Who wants to vote on the exact same ballot one year later. His story in 2009 was inspiring, but that is where it ends. The guy just isn't that good. He was a figure-head for the anti Dede, anti-RINO, anti-political establishment movement. And it almost worked. But the think that he can regenerate that kind of enthusiasm again against the exact same opponent is just wishful thinking. His game is over. I hope to God Mike Long isn't dumb enough to put him on the ballot against someone like Doheny and split the vote again and hand the election to Owens. It is literally cutting off your nose to spite your face. Doheny is pretty far right, but by essentially infecting that campaign with a Hoffman conservative party nomination, the 23rd district will wind up with a health care voting, cap and trade loving, Pelosi supporting, pro-union Owens. How very stupid indeed. It is all about compromise - Mr. Long, your candidate cannot get elected, so I suggest you find the next best thing rather than sacrificing the entire conservative agenda for your own hubris.
