The Fat Cat on Your Street

President Obama went on 60 Minutes last night to against blast away at the "fat cats." who "just don't get it."
I need to start putting a face on the those fat cats whom Mr. Obama says are ripping us off.
Now I assume there are some of those fat cats lurking in Watertown....People we should shout insults at....give a glaring stare to on the street....or throw a snowball at their passing Lexus.
It's just I don't know who the local fat cats are.....I know there are the bank presidents like Beth and Brad....Does the President want me mad at them ?
How about those Wall Street rascals...you know 'em...Couch, Foster the whole gang of them who work in local brokerage houses.
Then there are the evil insurance people...Too many fat cats there to even mention....I'll start small by giving Duffany the evil eye while he is wandering around the Arcade.
How about Dave (three house) Mance....Is he one of those fat cat's.....Or those $400K a year execs at the hospital.
Is anybody who is more successful than I ....makes or has more money....do they need to be villified ?
Washington dogma is everybody is getting ripped off and the President would suggest that government and only government can step in to stop the injustice.
More czars, bigger deficits, higher taxes, more regulation.....Yeah....that will keep those fat cats in check.
Take that Dave Mance !

Funny ... fat cats in Watertown - not likey - do a "donor search" at OpenSecrets.org or FEC.gov and enter our zipcode ... not much there.

We know who fat cats are and they is not here ...

The only visible fat cats are those living off of tossed food at the Mall in the middle of the night. Meow...

I just watched the 60 Minutes clip that the mayor is spinning. In that clip, you can see that President Obama is clearly referring to "fat cat bankers on Wall Street" who were partially responsible for the economic downturn that required TARP bailouts and now oppose regulation or changing their irresponsible methods to prevent the same thing from happening in the future. The president even says "on Wall Street" three times in that clip, clearly indicating that he's not talking about local businessman who happen to be successful or wealthy.

Geez, being purposefully obtuse much? This is just more intellectual dishonesty masked as Palin's brand of "common sense conservatism".

P.S. Dan Francis' reference to OpenSecrets.org allowed me to stumble across this recent article that points out that members of the House of Representatives who oppose the kind of financial reform that President Obama is talking about "collected 70 percent more from commercial banks since 1989, on average, than those supported it. And they raised an average of 50 percent more from credit and finance companies than the bill's supporters..."

Follow the money indeed.

Ummm... so anyone who isn't physically on Wall Street, lower Manhattan, isn't part of the President's reference? That lets a LOT of folks off the hook.
I think the mayor's point is that Obama uses "fat cats" as a metaphor for anyone who's done well under capitalism, the kind of cat Obama seems intent on exterminating.

President Obama used the term "fat cat bankers" to describe those whose "irresponsible actions on Wall Street" caused the need for bailouts to "salvage a financial system" and for "financial regulatory reform". He's saying that THOSE "fat cats" who are now opposing regulatory reform and paying themselves crazy bonuses are repeating the same behavior that Americans acknowledge was partially responsible for the current recession.

He's not talking about villifying "anybody who is more successful than I", "makes or has more money" or has "done well under capitalism". That's all radical rhetoric to mislead people into believing that President Obama is inciting class warfare. If it weren't so ridiculous and transparent, it would almost be clever.

How about the irresponsible lending forced in the banks by Barney Frank and Acorn...?
No Fat Cats there to be sure.

Vitriol is the proper spelling and I'm not sure which "Danny" you mean? If me, then you are dead wrong...

"Fat" cat ref meant literally fat cats as in fat kitten/feline...

You may call a cat a fish, but it still will not swim.

Those who traded imaginary derivatives against swaps, unable to trace trillions of dollars, and, then, receiving a federal bailout for the full value of their toxic assets might be more of a concern than the girth of felines.

How many, one year later, have survived because of the cheapest amount of money from the federal reserve?

How many visted the White House yesterday?

5:21: If you don't believe our President is all about villifying those who are successful, and about inciting beneath-the-radar class warfare, you are indeed naive.
