When I read the comments on this humble blog as well as the national debate, I think Pat Buchanan is on to something.....This is an interesting read. Is America coming apart?
I don't if Buchanan is "on to something," or just "on something."
Buchanan is a whacked out (at times) rightwing zealot... nothing less - a lot more.
He's like McCain in the final analysis when the chips are down, and no matter how "subtle he tries to be or come across as," - he is a honest-to-goodness RED.

Yeah, America is coming apart alright - the 30% or so bunch of crazies that can no longer agree on how far to go, and when and if to stop. While the sane 70% of us Americans are concerned with real problems like the economic collapse, two wars and climate change. And not if two woman want to make a legal vow of partnership.
Kevin Phillips, in a 1978 article entitled "The Balkanization of America: As Loyalties Narrow Society Itself Dissolves", takes on this issue in a scholarly way.
