Even Ted Ford Cannot Believe What His Party Did

I am running this headline again as some readers were suggesting I took it down earlier because of fear of offending somebody.

Actually, I try to keep the page fresh so a headline may only stay a few hours....depending on what else I am doing.

In the case of this headline it is a tongue in cheek, metaphorical use of the name "Ted Ford". Ted is my symbol of the most ardent Democrat. So when he shakes his head at the party nomination of a non-Dem, in this case Bill Owens of Plattsburgh, I consider that a metaphor for party disdain for the choice.

I suspect most hard core Dems will stay with the line and for the Dems to run such a conservative candidate is fine with me.

However, I stand with my position that some Dems have a problem with the nomination.

You betcha hardliners are going to be upset at this choice. JT Sullivan worked for years carrying party water, only to be dumped for a Republican (I know they keep saying Independent, but come on, let's be honest, he was/is a Republican - as was btw the third finalist apparently at least until 2006).

Real Dems are more likely to vote for Dede for a lot of reasons in light of this pick. And they should frankly.

We still need and deserve the best person in the House - of the three right now: none really are a very good choice ... but we have to choose one, right? We can always blame the process, right?

That was Easy! ®

I'm confused about one report: Owens "retired" Air Force, or just Vet who served one hitch and got out?

One report says "Retired" if so as a Captain, he was cut short - probably a 15-year "boot out" could not make Major or 20 years (Captains normally cannot) so he had to take 15-year deal from the Reagan/Bush 41 days.

I think the public has a right to know his full military record, don't you?

Why? So he can be discredited? He's not going to be the Army Chief of staff, What's Mchugh's service record like, did he serve??

I have an idea. You could get T. Boone Pickens to front you a billion dollars and discredit his military record entirely. Danny Francis from PIV could write the book for you. Wink, wink.

Republicans love that kind of stuff.

McHugh has no military record and everyone knows that.

But to claim to be "retired" vs. a one-hitcher needs to be clarified ... there is a huge diff.

It reminds me of the people who thought former Rep. Dave O'B Martin was a Marine Corps "fighter pilot." He was not. He flew in a F-4 fighter jet in the backseat as the RIO (Radar Intercept Officer) who, among other things, tells the pilot where to fly and what to bomb. - the RIO does not fly the plane at all, but people called him a jet pilot. He WAS NOT.

The truth should matter - it used to.

Nowadays, however, it does not mean much, especially for those those who "like him or her," and they can say or do no wrong 'cause they is popular.

That's the pathetic and sad part. Then those same people complain about "government wrongs and lies."

LOL

I just watched the video clip of this guy. How old is he? He looks like he is 80 and totally boring. Wow, talk about a swing and a miss for the Dems.

If Reps want to dump Dede from the ticket because she isn't conservative enough, why won't the Dems do the same because Owens is clearly not liberal enough. Hell, he isn't even as liberal as his Rep opponent. I just don't understand this pick from the far corner of the district of an old man from Brooklyn.

You should run for county legislator, Danny.

It's not running, 5:43 that matters; it's not being able to win - I can't - end of story.

I pose a threat to many people - why, I don't know.

I can't believe Ted Ford somehow benefitted (again) from being a political hack.
