NY-23 Attrition: Dem Field Shrinks as French Bows Out | Politicker NY | New York Politics News, Reaction, and Analysis

So Dan French is Out. Everybody talked about him like he was a leading contender. I have never met him and don't know anyone who has. Same thing with these other folks who are wealthy lawyers with no apparent ties to life in the North Country. While I respect those who have been successful elsewhere, roots matter.

Roots do matter.

But, what kind of plant does it support?

This time of year Sunflowers grow tall and bright, but disappear by Fall.

The lowly potato remains nestled close to its roots.

How the different county chairmen select their Congressional Candidates, without public participation, has been a thorny issue.

That means, whomever the candidates, the parties will have a Rose by any other name.

How are you even in a position to judge roots of the candidates who I'm guessing you have never met or spoke with? I'm for the best qualified person with the best ideas. All candidates in the mix appear to be from here, have families, here, etc. and know what our area is about. Now, its just about who is best qualified and has the best ideas. I'm tired of retreading the same old politicians and I look forward to some new blood. Lord knows a four term mayor in Watertown has not miraculously improved the city. So count me as one who does NOT want that kind of closed minded experience. Mayor, as your idol Sara Palin says, enough with the politics as usual, its time for real change.
