Now that would have been the Congressional race I enjoyed most.....Soldier of Fortune Conservative Bart Bonner against the independent Democrat and perennial letter to the editor writer Dan Francis. Both guys with ideas and dedication but not likely to win their party's nomination.
Bart says he likes Matt Doheny but is worried the successful investment banker doesn't know enough about our lifestyle, which for Bart means guns, guns and oh, by the way, guns. Bart says he recently baffled Doheny by asking him what a 7.62mm was. It's a caliber of ammunition.
Dan is frustrated because the Democratic selection process is well, not very democratic.
These are both smart, thoughtful characters who would really take an interest in being in the Halls of Congress. It is doubtful they will get the chance, but I for one appreciate their trying.

Your 'not-so-subtle' slap at me "... perennial letter to the editor writer Dan Francis..."
It must really rub you and others raw when citizens like me write letters to the Editor (properly are LETTERS FROM THE PEOPLE) wherein we mostly criticize government and government operations and/or decisions...
I wonder why that is (rubs you all the wrong way)?
"Silence of the Lambs" was a good movie - but your direction of "Slap and Silence of My Voice" is a flop.

Dont be such a selective reader.....I called you smart and thoughtful, as well as guys with "ideas and dedication."
Unless you disagree with those assessments.....
It's not like I called you a gadfly
Lighten up Dan.

2. One that acts as a provocative stimulus; a goad
so there's no room in the discussion for a provocative stimulus? DMF is certainly provocative, to his credit. I may not agree w/him, but I certainly would not stifle the voice of a critic. Especially when he is right at least half the time.

No need to lighten up or to provoke you or anyone else - the views expressed here are mine and so are those expressed in print with the WDT... but you did use the word "perennial letter writer" with malice and forethought, IMHO.
And, that's all I have to say about that ... but, it's also better than some hiding behind an Anonymous moniker, isn't it?

True.....But I think perennial letter writer is a good thing...I am sorry you consider it a perjorative.
Speaking of perjorative - you asked on the HOTLINE the difference between Oriental and Asian...
Oriental: normally refers to things (i.e., rug, art, paintings).
Asian: normally refers to a person (i.e., he/she is Asian - from Asia).
You're welcome.
But should I be offended at being referred to as an Occidental ?
Bart should work FOR Doheny.
